Sony Ericsson W850i Review

In this day and age, when mobile phones seem to do anything that we want and much more, it is quite understandable that thousands of models are rolled out. Manufacturing of cell phones is definitely a profitable industry. Customers often face the dilemma of not knowing which phone to choose from the full-to-the-brim shelves at shops. Today we are going to review the Sony Ericsson W850i, the company’s first slider phone.

First of all, let’s clarify that this phone certainly isn’t the latest and greatest on the market. As a matter of fact, it was released more than a year ago. But personally I have heard lots of people complaining about the design of the latest next generation cell phones; they seem to lose their phone-like appearance and turn into mini touchpad-based computers. And I don’t need to name the models because you have heard the hype!

On the other hand, there is something about slider phones that cannot be explained easily, but it makes them pretty attractive. Once again, I know more than a few people who would always take a slider phone over a touch-pad “screen-only” phone. Oh, and apparently the trendy new phones also seem to sport really big screens (which is great), but this comes with the drawback of bigger size (dimensions) and weight.

Therefore, in this article we are going to review Sony Ericsson’s first ever slider phone, the W850i model. It is a high-quality tri-band phone that can work with most of the operators all over the world. It supports UMTS 2100, and the tri-band GPRS frequencies of 900/1800/1900. It is a performing Walkman phone (“W”) and sports a 2 mega pixel camera. As you can see below, it has a well-designed, aesthetic appearance.

Let’s move on to check out its other specifications and see how it performs.
